Die Sika Sikafloor-400 N Balkonabdichtung ist eine UV-beständige, abdichtende und rissüberbrückende Dünnbeschichtung zum Abdichten von Balkonen, Terrassen und Laubengängen. Sie haftet auf zementgebundenen Böden ebenso wie auf Fliesen und Altbeschichtungen; als optionale Versiegelung kommt Sikafloor-410 zum Einsatz.

Technische Details und Verarbeitung
Der Untergrund muss tragfähig, sauber, trocken sowie frei von trennenden Substanzen sein und wird passend grundiert. Die Beschichtung im vorgeschriebenen Mischungsverhältnis anrühren und in mehreren Arbeitsgängen rissüberbrückend auftragen; als Versiegelung eignet sich Sikafloor-410. Herstellerangaben zu Grundierung, Schichtaufbau und Trocknung beachten.

Frequently asked questions
Can I apply Sikafloor-400 N directly to glazed tiles?
No. Tile glazes must be removed by blasting or milling; for smaller areas, diamond grinding discs are recommended. According to the system build-up, unglazed tiles or tiles with the glaze removed are prepared with 2 x Sika Icoment-520 (approx. 3–4 kg/m²).
When is the coating rainproof, walkable and fully loadable?
At +20 °C substrate temperature: rainproof after approx. 5 hrs, walkable after approx. 8 hrs, fully loadable after approx. 5 days. At +10 °C: approx. 15 hrs, approx. 24 hrs and approx. 7 days. At +30 °C: approx. 3 hrs, approx. 5 hrs and approx. 4 days.
How long do I have to wait before applying the second coat or the sealer?
Overcoating at +20 °C after 16 hrs at the earliest and 3 days at the latest, at +10 °C after 24 hrs to 5 days, at +30 °C after 12 hrs to 2 days. Temperature and humidity affect these times.
How long can I still use an opened bucket?
Sikafloor-400 N Elastic is formulated to dry quickly. In opened containers, expect a skin to form within 1–2 hours, so use the material promptly. Store in the original sealed container in a dry, cool, frost-free place; shelf life at least 6 months from production.
What is Sikafloor-400 N applied with, and can it be sprayed?
Preferably with a broken-in, low-lint roller, a mohair roller or a Kauppspachtel. Rolling does not produce an evenly smooth surface. Spraying is not possible. Mix thoroughly beforehand with an electric stirrer (approx. 300–400 rpm) until homogeneous.
In what weather can I apply the balcony waterproofing?
Air and substrate temperature at least +10 °C and at most +30 °C, relative humidity max. 80 % and min. 35 % (below +20 °C min. 45 %). During application and curing, the substrate temperature must be at least +3 °C above the dew point; protect from condensation.
Why is sealing with Sikafloor-410 recommended?
Wine, coffee, leaves or petals can cause discolouration; the technical properties and durability are not affected. For easier cleaning and better resistance to soiling, Sika recommends sealing with Sikafloor-410.
Can I use Sikafloor-400 N as a DIYer?
According to Sika's technical data sheet, Sikafloor-400 N Elastic is "intended for use by professional applicators only". Sika therefore aims the product at specialist contractors; the application instructions and safety data sheet must be observed before use.
